arkoúda can still recall what was around her when she first opened her eyes: the snow dragging at her paws as she was carried through the storm, the sound of dying wolves, and the scent of deer blood. she was born in a rag-tag team of wolves who often moved locations, acting more like scavengers than an actual pack. she learned from a young age that the things around her can be manipulated to suit her, and wolves were just as easily done. and so, arkoúda followed her family across the cast landscape, hiding out in shadows and coming out to steal another poor wolf's dinner.
but despite the instability her pack surrounded itself with, their rules were rigid. many older members strictly followed the ancient pack laws, and seemed keen on teaching their younger counterparts to follow them as well. their "alpha" - or her father - was one of the wolves who believed in following these laws despite their circumstantial way of living. arkoúda may have had the wits to survive, but her father did not see her as living until she followed these laws.
arkoúda seldom ever listened, and would often sneak away from her family to spend time away from their suffocation. when she wasn't breaking that rule, she often would retaliate against wolves in her pack, after being forced to follow their laws. unfortunately, this would end up being her downfall, as she had been pushed one times too many. arkoúda had gotten into another skirmish with a fellow packmate over the last remnants of food they had, which according to their law the other wolf was entitled to due to her being pregnant. arkoúda and her began to scrap before her father intervened, furious with arkoúda. unable to take the way she lived any longer, arkoúda left her pack.
she joined carja and changed her name to arkoúda, claiming she had no name before then. only ríza knows the truth, as he had briefly stayed in her home pack. he swore to keep her secret.
