Ravine

One of a sort of troublemaking pups Gravel and Misty found. He was the only one of this little pack without a siblings, and was often ignored the most. However, Polar couldn't help but sense that there's something special about him, due to his unusual markings.

Ravine stays quiet most of time, and is afraid to speak his mind. During the time of Lunar Essence, he often stares to the sky.

During their training, Ravine would form a close friendship with Smoke. Yet, Smoke had seemed almost too interested in Ravine, as though he had sought to gain something out of their friendship.

Lately, Ravine has developed a tendency to leak glowing blue tears. At first, the herbalists were unable to explain Ravine's tears. But upon reaching the tundra, Moonspeaker was able to explain that Ravine's tears were the result of his connection to the Lunar Fields. Ravine had begun to absorb lunar essence from his wandering in the Dreamlands. With this knowledge to this, she explained that Ravine is destined to become Rime's own Moonspeaker. The time has not yet arrived for him to be appointed, however, as Ravine is hesitant to the task. Yet, Ravine has managed to form a bond with a lunar raven that he has been seeing in his dreams. As he continues to absorb the essence of the lunar fields, more changes have begun to occur in him, such as his nose turning blue.

Ravine would be encouraged by Smoke to seek out the Dreamlands and become the Moonspeaker, since he believed that taking on the role would grant Ravine power and importance. One fateful night, Ravine would figure out how to enter the Dreamlands voluntarily, by interacting with the Lunar items that the herbalists kept before he would go to sleep. There, he would encounter Moonspeaker, who told him that his discovery was a sign that the time for him to embrace destiny had come. Knowing that he had Smoke's support, Ravine would finally accept the chance to become the Moonspeaker of Rime Pack. However, just as he had done so, the time of lunar essence had reached its end, and so Ravine would make an oath to Moonspeaker that he would visit her to train his essence and wandering abilities until the next period of essence. It pained Ravine to give up on being a scout with Smoke, but as long as they could remain friends and associate, he was content to follow through with his new destiny.

By the end of the next period of Lunar Essence, Moonspeaker the she-wolf says she will fade away with the Lunar Fields, leaving Ravine to replace her role in Rime Pack.

But trouble appears to be brewing. Despite vowing to Moonspeaker that he would keep the Lunar items between himself and his mentor, Ravine was tempted to share some of them with Smoke. What has caught Ravine off guard, however, is the fact that Smoke appeared to have acted strange after coming into contact with the item. Yet, in order to protect his friend, Ravine asked no further question as to what may have happened to Smoke. He was not aware that Smoke had communicated with beings from Lunar Fields.

When the time of Lunar Essence would come, Moonspeaker would offer Ravine his final test: to uncover the Sleeplands where Rime's ancestors would reside forever. He would have to seek out the "plain of stone" that she once crossed on her path to becoming Moonspeaker. Ravine would successfully find the plain and Rime's Sleeplands, and Moonspeaker would then honor him by letting him succeed the role. From now on, he would keep in touch with Rime's ancestors by wandering the Sleeplands, even outside the time of Lunar Essence.

Thanks to the Sleeplanders, Ravine would discover Smoke was using the Lunar Essence to communicate with the Wolf of Flame, Thermal, who plans to stop the pack from reaching the tundra. Now it is up the Moonspeaker to oust his own friend in order to save Rime pack's future.

Ravine would finally end up getting his answers from Fir, of all pups and wolves. He would find her having just escaped from the territory, and she would reveal to him everything she knew about Smoke and what he'd done, that he was the one who had murdered Rapid and had been meeting and discussing with outsiders. Learning of Smoke's heartless betrayal left Ravine utterly crushed. Nonetheless, with Fir's help, Ravine would finally expose Smoke before the entire pack. Unfortunately, Smoke would end up fleeing away from the situation, and with his whereabouts unknown, it could only be assumed that he and his followers were planning their assault on Rime. Thus, the pack has only one option: to the flee the territory.

Upon reaching the glacier cliff of their new home, Rime would engage in a great battle with the followers of Smoke and their packs. But for Ravine, something spectacular would unfold. As the flames of the Wolf of Flame were expanding over the valley and climbing towards the cliff, Ravine would begin to emit lunar essence from his eyes and mouth. At the climax of the battle and the flame's reach, Rime's Sleeplanders would merge with the cloud of essence, as well as absorb the will of each living wolf in Rime, and take the form of the Wolf of Frost. The crystalline wolf would then proceed to put out the flames of evils, drowning the blaze as its frost melted into waves of water upon contact. This event would grant Rime victory over their enemies, and allow them to secure the Cliff.

However, Ravine would remain as still as statue at the top of the cliff for a while, continuously emitting lunar essence. That was, until the time of lunar essence would concluded, and the essence cloud would return to his body. Ravine would be awakened from his trance, with pupilless eyes of pure frosty blue. According to his words, he was now one with the Wolf of Frost. The meaning of these words, however, would remain his secret to keep.
