Biography
100% Certified Best Girl
Why must she haunt me... Even after this long, she thinks, stealing through the moonlit pines and fragrant firs. A ragged, black shape shadowing her every footfall. Hounding her, nipping at her legs. A branch snaps and all movement stops, the only sound that of the crickets and cicadas humming. She feels a presence and glances down, fearful it might be the colorless phantom, but her eyes were greeted by a fiery pelt and her own yellow eyes staring back. "What a disappointment," the shadow growls in her ear. "Your paws should make no sound when prowling through these woods, you disappoint me," she says, pointedly ignoring the growling wolf to her left. "I am sorry, mother, a queen should be better, even if I do not yet hold the title," Phoenix murmurs, looking forward as well.
"Put her in her place, she should know better than to disappoint you!" the shadow howls, saliva dripping from its open maw, I will do no such thing to my own flesh and blood she thinks, rebuffing any ideas of doing as the shadow suggests. "I shall not fail you, mother," Phoenix says quietly but with steel in her voice, "I will not fail the pack." Moro stays quiet for a long time as they begin to move forward once more. "Why have you done nothing? Our daughter is weak, she rolled over too easy! She will fail!" the shadow seethes, snapping at Moro's ear. "You will be a strong and beautiful Queen, just like your mother, just like my mother and her's before her," she says after a long, long moment. She glances at her daughter, a contemplative look on the adolescent's face, "You rarely speak of our family," she says. "Our history is long. Long, and complicated. I left my home to find my own way, I found our pack to give wolves the option of a clean slate," Moro says firmly.
She glances down at her daughter, catching the young wolf wilting. She is so strong, she tries so hard to be what I want her to be, she glances at the shadow which seethes in the periphery of her vision, She deserves a mother who won't snap, you're wrong. "Perhaps... Perhaps I shall break my silence on this matter. It is not something to discuss in our current setting, but I shall tell you, and your brother, gods bless him that he won't suffer our fate," Moro says softly.
. .
Moro is Queen of Sanctuary Falls, she is a caring mother and leader, concerned with her packmates while refusing to coddle any of them. She believes in self-sufficiency and independence but knows the importance of keeping a close-knit pack around her.
Her line is cursed, the origins of the curse unknown through centuries of oral tradition. A phantom haunts the females of the Moro line. It starts with irritability and bursts of anger in late adolescence, until one day, each female catches sight of a colorless wolf with ragged fur and wide, crazed eyes. The beast whispers in the ear of each of the line, slowly growing to look more and more like the wolf it haunts. Some have managed to live their whole lives giving little ground to this shadow while others have been consumed by it. Moro's mother was a strong, capable and beautiful Queen, she ruled most of her life fairly and justly, until one day she snapped. She accidentally killed Moro's sister, Junaea, for a small slight, and it broke the old Queen. She wasted away, and Moro fled, unable to stand losing her sister and mother. Since then, the colorless ghost of her mother
