A note about hunter culture: Within each hunting party, the wolves refer to each other by nicknames. The nickname is used the entire time when they are out on a hunt, for quick communication, as well as most of the time when the hunting party is just chilling. Only members of the same hunting party refer to each other by these nicknames. The nicknames are usually one to two syllables consisting of the first part of the wolf's full name. If the first syllable isn't a suitable nickname, another part of the wolf's name may be chosen. When the wolves are young hunters or new to the hunting party, they are given a diminutive form of their nickname that always ends in -ie. For example, Glaucanite's diminutive nickname is Glauxie (because Glaucie sounds weird), while her mature nickname would be Glaux. Wolves use their diminutive nicknames until the hunting party has 95 to 100% synergy or the individual has over 50% proficiency. The diminutive is a way of establishing status within and between parties, and, if a wolf switches hunting parties, they will be referred to by their diminutive until they have integrated into the party.
