Owl is a total opposite to his brother, Sunny. Sunny is confident, talented, boastful, and perfect. Compared to Sunny, Owl feels he is totally worthless. This deep rooted self doubt mixed with his fathers high expectations, puts an excessive amount of pressure on Owl. Every single wolf knows that the amazing Sunny will reach up to his fathers reputation (or maybe he already has...?) and lead hunting parties and organise scouting missions just like Crowthroat. Or maybe he'll go further than that? become a pack leader? It doesnt matter, because to Owl, he'll be forgotten in no time. He'll just be 'Sunny's brother' or 'Crowthroats other son.' It doesnt make any sense to Owl, though, he does well in most lessons, he listens reasonably well, and is particularly good at sneaking, which has come in useful a few times where he's needed to blend in to the shadows to eavesdrop. Its become a sort of habit, to eavesdrop on his fathers conversations with Frost, his mother, to hear even a slither of praise from him. He never seems to be mentioned, though.
