Dire is the son of Achilles and SnowSong (although he considers Lethe to be his mother). He has a brother, Dusk, a sister, Ikki, a half-sister, Sol, and an adopted brother named Foalan.
Dire is training to become a Chaser for the Mortuus Pack.
Dire is often very pessimistic, always calling out flaws in his sibling's elaborate schemes (despite going through with them anyway) and assuming the worst in bad situations. But, he is also kind and brave, qualities that make his father, Achilles, very proud.
