Rowena

Backstory

Rowena never really belonged, not even in her own pack. She always felt like an outsider. Her old pack was made up of strong hunters, so she knew that would be her role in the pack ever since her birth. However, she wasn't as strong as other wolves her age, but she was smarter. And as she got older she became wiser than them too. Being around brainless brutes wasn't the life she wanted, but she couldn't just leave her family behind. Beggars can't be choosers is what she always told herself.

While on one of her many walks, she wondered into another pack's territory. She never noticed the small pack before, meaning she must have been far from home. There were only four adults wolves working together to care for two small pups. She looked at them with pity, knowing they probably wouldn't last long. Rowena was about to turn around and head home when she heard a deep voice. It wasn't aimed towards her, but she couldn't help but feel drawn to it.

Turning back, she saw a dark colored wolf smiling at the tiny pups. They were running around the wolf's legs and nipping at his tail. He must have been telling them to quit because the pups whined and ran towards a cream colored wolf, who immediately took them into a cave. Rowena hurried away before any of the wolves could catch her lurking around.

For days afterwards, she couldn't forget the dark wolf's voice. It echoed in her mind and all she could think about was hearing it again. She told her mother about these strange feelings and the older wolf just huffed. "Silly girl. He's your mate. Go and be with him."

She couldn't believe her mother's words. She mentioned leaving the pack so easily as if it was the only choice. Rowena looked at her mother with shock, "You want me to leave? What about you? And the rest of the pack?"

"Darling, the pack will be fine and so will I. Now go. You only get one mate."

After saying her goodbyes, Rowena left in search of the pack. She was anxious and all she could think about was what if her mother was wrong and this strange wolf isn't her mate. Though, all anxious thoughts were pushed out of her mind when she was welcomed to the pack. The leader was kind and so was his mate. The strange wolf's name was Faris and he felt the same towards her.

I guess beggars can be choosers sometimes, she thought as Faris nuzzled against her.

And that is the story of Rowena and how she joined the White Lily Pack.
