"I had been following her scent for a while across the desert dunes. I don't know if it was boredom or curiosity that pushed me to keep going so far out of my way in the middle of the night, but strangers had always intrigued me. After all, that's what most of my pack consisted of at the time. The trail led past the dunes and in among some strangely shaped mountains that looked tall enough to touch the starry sky above.
As I reached them, I hesitated. Tall mountains cast tall shadows and who knows what dangers might lurk in them? Before I could decide what to do, that's when I saw it. A white eye in the dark staring back at me, almost glowing. For a moment, I froze in fear, my mind desperately trying to remember every creature I'd ever come across to try and explain the strange sight before me.
That's when the wind suddenly picked up and blew through the mountains, hitting me along with a powerful whiff of the scent I'd been tracking. It was a one eyed wolf. I immediately relaxed and switched to a friendlier stance in hopes of encouraging her to come over. It worked.
As she began to step out into the moonlight, the first thing I noticed was her second eye. She indeed had another, but it was as black as the darkness that she came from. The second thing I noticed was her fur. She looked like she had been horribly injured, but moved with ease and grace like she hadn't a care in the world.
The strangest-looking wolf I'd ever encountered stood in front of me hesitantly and the only thing I could think of doing was to bow down in a playful, friendly gesture. She instantly lit up and responded in turn and we ended up chasing each other through the sand into the early hours of the morning."
