Kio is reminiscing in his past with Xeander. (unfinished)
They had met — well, Kio had been caught — while Xeander was scouting his territory at night. Kio did not want to admit that he was branded a disgrace by his coyote blood and decided to run away. Mainly as a defense mechanism, Kio threw on his charming face, his stutters betraying him due to Xeander's unwavering stare. That night, Kio should've been killed, but Xeander merely chased him out of Linsedar's territory.
A week went by of questions pulling on his thoughts. Why had he been spared? Kio ached to know the answer. A disgrace whose fate was to be killed, spared? Kio wandered along the border of Linsedar's territory, jumping at everything he thought was to be Xeander. Hope seeped out of him more and more as time went by, until a dark figure was spotted sniffing near a pile of rocks. Kio blanked, unsure of what to do even though he'd found what he was looking for, so he lay in wait.
"Come out," Xeander called out into the open air without even sparing a glance in Kio's direction. Since there was no use in hiding now, the coyote obliged and approached him. Kio prompted him with the question that was bothering him, but Xeander simply answered, "I could sense that you were no threat."
Kio felt that there were things unsaid. As though Xeander knew he was going to ask about it, he said, "I've answered your question, now get out of here."
