Barkwood was the most caring and loving of his siblings. Cocoa always told him what to do, and he'd do it without question. All he wanted in life was to please others and make them happy, so he did. He would follow her around and encourage Coals to do the same, but Coals had... other plans.
As time went on, Cocoa sent Barkwood on a small 'quest' of sorts. She wanted him to bring her back an herb that grew only on the edge of a cliffside. He had no idea what to look for but he did his best. As he was searching he slipped, fracturing his right shoulder. Barkwood was frightened by that incident and now he has a fear of heights.
