Spectre

Abandoned by his pack for his strange ghoulish appearance, Spectre wandered through the forest trying to find someplace warm to shelter.
The wind was howling and sleet was lashing down onto his back, shoving Spectre forward as he struggled to stay upright.
He didn't see the cliff edge until he was sent tumbling over it, wailing in despair. The turbulent waters of the river engulfed him and he gulped down murky water fighting to reach the surface again. The jagged rocks on the riverbed scraped along his back and head, he couldn't fight anymore, closing his eyes and accepting defeat.
He didn't see the figures dive down towards him, fighting against the current as his small broken body neared the edge of a waterfall. He didn't feel them grab him and drag him back to the surface or nudge him to wake up.

Spectre yawned as he curled into himself more, jerking when his whole body screamed in protest. He was alive! Cracking open his eyes he saw the inside of a smallish cave, lined with furs and feathers. Lifting his head he turned to get a better view of his surroundings when a large shadow covered him. A huge bear was staring down at him.
"Leif, get Zenith, he's awake".
