SUMMER of Year 1:

This is it! I'm out of the Den, and out of Mothers paws! Sitter Scoco wishes that I heed Mothers warnings, but how could I lead the Rose Claws as she does?

Mother doesn't miss a beat. She's aware of how everybody is; when they last ate; how much rest they've had. She can sense their illnesses before they're showing symptoms. She can even encourage the hunters to follow alternative scents - then, more often than not, Father returns with a larger kill than what he'd originally set off for.

I'm not as attuned to the ways of this Pack as Mother is. But Sitter Scoco says that's okay. She encourages me to chose my own path, and do that, I will!

I am not combative and ready to take down prey, like Father.
Nor am I strong and hawk-eyed, like Mother.

But, when I snuck out to follow Bear when he went out for another of his patrols, I realised the world was SO much bigger than just our territory! And Bear, wants to teach me everything!


SUMMER of Year 3:

I praise Bear and every step his paws have walked. For the Rose Claws, he has explored lands far beyond the den. Not only that, he has been an incredible guide - showing me how to find my way home, retrace our borders and the best look outs.

But now, Bear is choosing to rest. He joins Scoco in the den, to help perfect their nest before her belly becomes too round. He will become both a new Father, and our packs' Mentor!

And through this exciting moment, I will take stand as Guardian, and take lead in keeping our territory safe, and our prey in the balance.
