The Falling Out of Lyra and Renly
Renly had had enough. He had been in this pack for three years now, and Lyra is no closer to falling in love with him than she was three years ago. It was time for him to move on. They had been best friends before Renly fell for her, and were formidable scouts. That would be no more.
“Lyra. Are you ever going to love me?” Renly asked, coming up behind her as she was sitting just outside of camp. She startled, turning towards him.
“Renly...you don’t understand. My duty is this pack. It’s safety. It’s packmates. That will always come before any kind of relationship with you. You don’t want that. You already struggle to be under command of Amira, and to be second place in a relationship...that would destroy you.” She said, not unkindly. Renly blinked, thinking for a second before replying quietly,
“I hope that you get everything you’ve ever wanted.” With that, Renly took off into the night and was never seen again. There are rumors of him in a pack far east, with a little family of his own now.
When Renly left, it shattered Lyra. Her best friend abandoned her because he didn’t understand what being part of a pack meant. It took her three moons before she was able to scout again, this time, with no partner there, watching her back.
