Pre-blazing ashes
When songpelt was in her first pack she was named Bird. Bird had the amazing ability to mimic bird songs, which she used to calm the pups in the nursery. Bird was shunned by most of her packmates and seen as weak for not participating in battles and hunts. Her pack saw no value in having pupsitters, leading her to be chased out. Bird tired, hurt and hungry entered the forest and while stalking a turkey she heard the terrified yowls of pups. Abandoning her prey Bird ran to aid them chasing the threatening bobcat away. The father arrived quickly, breathless and fretful.
"Silver! Gold! you can't just go off where you please!"
The wolf turned to Bird and thanked her profusely for helping them. Bird helped him carry his pups back. After receiving an almost overwhelming amount of gratitude, the leader himself thanked her.
"The Blazing ashes thanks you for saving our young. I will send Oliveleaf and Icefern to escort you back to your pack."
"actually I don't have one."

Ashblaze didn't hesitate to offer her a chance to join their pack, sighting that they needed a wolf who could pupsit their young. Bird was shocked that they would even want a pupsitter but happily aggreed at the thought of being valued. It took a while for Bird to earn her pack name, Ashblaze wanted to make sure she was capable of handling the pack's young. One night Gold had woken up from a bad dream, and didn't wan't wake their mother or sibling so they went to their pupsitter. Bird conforted Gold by mimicing one of the bird songs they knew, unaware that Ashblaze had been outside. The very next day Bird received her pack name "songpelt" and gained the title of head pupsitter something she takes great pride in.

"Members of Blazing ashes please gather around the ledge rock. Bird please come up here."
"Yes, Ashblaze..."
"As the leader of Blazing Ashes, I ask for our ancestors to look upon this wolf, she has proven that she is fit for the role she has chosen. Bird unless you become leader, you shall be called songpelt the pack honors your kindness and optimism."

Songpelt was thrilled when she gave birth to Dapple and Ashen. Dapple was a curious puppy and somehow found her way out of the nursery. Icefern brought the small puppy's body back to the camp and called a meeting.
"Icefern! what is the meaning of this! Ashen just fell asleep......i..is that Dapple?"
"I'm so sorry Songpelt we found her too late."
"Oh Dapple... I'm so sorry!"

Songpelt similar to her pup Ashen, adopted a non wolf creature or well…creatures. While taking a walk Songpelt stumbled upon some fox kits wailing for their mother. Unable to leave them alone, Songpelt took them back to camp to be cared for.
