Lore: Hawthorne looked around at the dark woods. "I don't get it. Where is the pack?" He looked at the map his parents had given him.
"You're in it, idiot," a raspy voice snapped from his side. He whipped around raising his hackles.
"Tomura, you shouldn't be so mean."
In front of him stood three adolescents. The first on his left was a female who was blind. The right was a hybrid wolf it seemed, as he was the shape of a wolf, but had the pelt of a fox. The last, which was the one who had barked at him, was grey — no his fur was deeper... he was a special wolf.
"Hey can you talk?" the female asked.
He blinked. "Oh, uh. Yes! My name is Hawthorne."
Tomura snorted. "Great. A lame name as well."
Hawthorne was about to leap at this incompetent adolescent when a voice stopped him in his tracks. "Tomura."
A large thin wolf walked through the bushes. His scent was overwhelming. Hawthorne knew this was the leader. Tomura slinked back, much to Hawthorne's enjoyment. "Rameous, Fateseer — would you show this traveler to his den?"
Although it was less of a question and more of a command, Rameous nodded and motioned to Hawthorne to follow. After they were far enough, he laughed. "Wow! Was that your pack leader? Tomura is sure going to get in trouble."
Fateseer joined in with smiling and giggled a little. Rameous shook his head. "Our leader, when it comes to Tomura, changes everything he does wrong into a learning experience."
Hawthorne enjoyed staying in this pack with the other adols, but when it came to leave they did not fret, and rather pushed him to go and explore!

Lore: The sun was setting and Hawthorne laid down, tried from walking so far. Then he saw bright blue eyes in the bushes. "Who are you?" the brown wolf asked. "I'm Hawthorne, and I'm traveling to places. Is it okay if I spend two nights in your pack? ...Oh, and your name?"
"Iceland, and I'm not the leader of this pack. You'll have to ask Badger. He's a black wolf with a white marking on his face. Now, come on."
After a hour they arrived to a small ditch with dens for each role in the pack up ahead was black wolf that was a bit smaller then other wolves. "Is that Badger?" Hawthorne asked.
"No, that's just Townes," explained Iceland. "He has a mutation that caused his fur to turn black. It's kind of the same thing with our herbalist. She's out foraging right now."
They walked towards a den with a rocky entrance. "Hey, Badger," said Iceland. Half a hour later, "he may stay for one day. Anymore than that, he will be returned to his original pack," Badger said.
The next day. "Wake up," Iceland nudged Hawthorne. "Wanna go scouting together?"
"That kinda sounds fun," Hawthorne answered.
An hour later, Hawthorne looked across the plains seeing a group of wolves in the distance. "I think that may be my next stop," he thought as he looked at his map. Suddenly, a cougar leapt out of the tall dry grass and bit his leg. He freaked out, kicking the cougar in the face. Iceland turned around in shock and acted quickly. He bit the cougar on the tail before ripping a piece of its ear away. Hawthorne ran away limping on his back leg. Iceland caught up with Hawthorne and picked him up heading towards the herbalists den.
"What happened to you ?!" a fully white wolf asked once they got there.
"I got attacked by a cougar," Hawthorne explained as Iceland laid him down on a moss bed with feathers. Hours later Hawthrone woke up to the smell of a hare carcass and saw an adolescent with orangeish white fur and yellow flowers around her ear. "I heard about you before yesterday, but anyways, I'm Sienna. I plan on traveling when I'm a adult. There aren't many younger wolves around here."
"Oh," Hawthrone said.
The white wolf walked into the den with herbs in her mouth. "Hello Finn! Welcome back," she said around the herbs. "Sienna, would mind putting these away?" Sienna nodded and took the herbs. The herbalist stared at Hawthorne.
"You might have to stay another day because of your injury. I'll be also assigning you to an herb lesson." Hawthorne rolled his eyes at this.
Two hours later, Hawthorne woke up in the middle of the night. He wrote a letter to his fathers saying: I love the place out here. So far it's really fun! But also sometimes scary. I had to stop by a small pack named Piner. The leader's kinda not happy about me staying for one more night because of a injury I got from a cougar. But I got to learn about herbs and scouting, and anyways I love you and goodbye!
In the morning, he said goodbye to everyone before hitting the road. He touched noses with Iceland "Until we meet again, Hawthorn. You're almost like a little brother to me," the other wolf said.

Lore: Hawthorne moved on from the Piner pack in the mountains and stopped in briefly with his home pack that denned deep in a forest. He eagerly told his fathers about his travels, but he was a traveler and soon moved north as the winter winds blew him. In doing so he happened upon the territory of the Gunnison Pack. The wolves here had grown used to such visitors, and so welcomed him in for a time.
When he joined up with the tundra wolves, Hawthorne was a moon away from being an adult. When he told one-eyed leader of the Gunnison Pack of this, the older wolf nodded.
"We will prepare our adulthood ceremony for you," Irulan said. "But I must ask that you leave afterwards. We have many females coming of age soon too and we do not need any more young adult males here during winter while there is little to do. The ranks of our pack's pups have already grown too numerous as it is."
While Hawthorne was somewhat disappointed — it might be nice to make the acquaintance of some females his own age, he thought — he appreciated the pack's generosity. In the moon he was there, he attended to the hunters to learn how they found and took down massive prey in the cold wastes. He also talked with the trio of the pack's travelers — Discovery, Harmonia, and Darling, all still pups or adolescents younger than himself — about what he had experienced as a traveler.
The pack's adulthood ceremony was unlike anything Hawthorne had heard of from other packs; there were speeches from the pack's elders, including its leader Irulan, and howling chants to the spirits of prey and bygone elders that another young male was dispersing into the wilds of adulthood. They sent him off on a sunny, if frigid day, with a full belly and a heart full of well wishes.
