Biography
His father was a wolf, and his mother a coyote. His mother, who named him Far, raised him the same as she did his half-siblings, and he grew up among a large pack of coyotes. One day, he met a purebred she-wolf at the edge of the forest named Longstride. For all his life, he had known wolves only as an object of fear, so it came as a great surprise that he was nearly as large as her! She spoke of how powerless female wolves were in pack life and of how her father was itching to kick her out.
The lives of wolves fascinated Far. They took down prey that only the most desperate of coyotes would hunt on a weekly basis, and the only predator they had to fear was the bear. Even more interestingly, wolves tended to mate for life. Coyotes were far more loyal mates than wolves, but only for as long as it took to raise their pups, while according to Longstride, wolves can remain mated for years.
Hearing this, Far declared that he would start a wolf pack. His pups would never have to live in fear, or struggle in the chaos of the coyote social order. Longstride tilted her head in thought for a moment. She then offered to join him, on three conditions: one, she would officially be his mate, the second highest position in the pack, two, she would be allowed to fool around with whatever wolves she wanted, and three, she would get to name him and his pups in the tradition of her pack. He agreed, and Longstride later named him Farsight for his keen vision.
