Born into a sexist pack where she-wolves like her had no say in their mates and no assurance that they wouldn't be chased out when they had nothing to contribute to the bloodline, Longstride craved power. Not to use it against her pack, but to ensure she would remain a part of it for as long as she lived. When she met a coywolf named Far, she knew he could provide the kind of security she was looking for.
Though she hated her birth pack's alpha, her father, she did not hate one tradition. She decided that she would name Far, his pups, and every nameless wolf that finds their way into the pack in her birth pack's naming scheme. Each pup is given a root name, to which the suffix -pup is appended. When the pup becomes an adolescent, it goes by its root name alone. Finally, when the pup becomes an adult, it is gifted a befitting suffix. Hence, Far became Farsight when he took on the role of pack leader.
