Born of the noble family Douchebag, Giraldus Kensington the second was old enough to chase his dream. The title of Knight was what he wanted, as he always heard great stories of his father Giridus fighting with the knights of Shekume. Upon reaching the age of acceptance he called upon the king of the Silent Mountain to show him the scrolls of the legend rituals.
"The rituals are not for children, are you ready to face the Monsters that haunt you?" King Tomiraki asked, an evil smile across his face. Giraldus nodded, unliking the way his presence affected the room. King Tomiraki was called the king of Silence for his known victories that were quick and mysteriously won. The attack started as normally as one could but always had the same turnout puzzling Giraldus, also causing him to study the ways of war.
"I understand that the trials are things to be reconsidered, O King, but I am a wolf willing to do anything to serve others." Tomiraki listened with closed eyes and shook his head. "The yoke is heavy, and youth are naive, but there is hope for you. One is able to venture these trials with you, and as I can see you already have one." A white snake coiled around Giraldus's neck swayed hissing. One morning in his first years of puphood, Giraldus was playing out in the woods, when he realized how dark it had gotten. It was forbidden of him to stay out in the dark when dragons and trolls roamed. Lost and afraid Giraldus had begun to lose hope until a strange little white thing slithered out of the grass and looked at him nodding to follow. Curiously he wandered through the forest and directly home where the white snake had led him. From that day forth he had a strong bond with his friend named Scatheless.
"The task you must complete is stopping a tyrant that has been torturing the kindom of Lurkers. Only return once you have completed in vanquising this foul being." Giraldus snorted, thinking "You're one to talk about evil beings."
After his confrontation he set off on his journey to another land. Scatheless flicked his tongue into Giraldus's ear. "Eha! What did you do that for?" He said, shaking his head. "You missed your turn." He cackled. All of the sudden, a scream pierced the air. Instantly Giraldus took off running, sword drawn in his mouth. "Hey! Snake on the back remember?!" Scatheless had almost been flung off as he leaped into action. "Sorry." Giraldus said, reaching the site of the scream.
A black wolf with a crown of pure silver was edging towards two fair maidens, with pelts of bronze and silvery-white. "Get back being of foul presence!" Giraldus leaped in front of the damsels, and sliced through the air. "Don't you understand whom I am? I am the King of the Lurkers-"
Giraldus smiled.
"Then to you I say au revoir." With that final statement he chopped the neck of the evil king, and saved the fair maidens. "Nice job Girald you got him!" Scatheless peeked out from the long fur on his neck. "My kingdom owes you greatly, O knight!" The silver wolf said curtsying. "A Knight, keeps none in debt." He said. "I will take you to the land you hail from." He promptly walked her all night to the Kingdom of Rohan. A wolf came out and nuzzled the bronze one's head. "Thank you, brave Knight, you have saved my beloved wife Ryukyu, and child Xenos. If your kingdom ever seeks aid, the land of Rohan will pay back there due." Theodan, of Rohan was an esteemed lord whom all feared. His wit and kindness made him a great King.
"Such an honor my lord." Giraldus bowed. Thรฉodan laughed and bowed his head towards the knight. "Willst thou join us for feasting and games?" Giraldus shook his head. "Alas my journey continues, I am most grateful for the offer though." He nodded. "Safe travels O knight!" He turned motioning for them to follow. Xenos smiled back at him before following.
Content and happy Giraldus traveled in one days time, to the Silent Mountain. "Hello?" He said, walking into the large obsidian throne room. "Is anyone-" Lying on the throne was none other than the king of the lurkers. "How? Are you a sorcerer?" Giraldus gaped at the bloody wolf. "Yes, apparently you didn't realize the fact that all kings have magic." He leaped off of the throne, landing with a crack on the slate floor. "You. Can't. Kill me. Die mortal!" He pulled out a sword of silver, and swung at Giraldus. "Left Gir left!" Giraldus heeded the snake's warning and unsheathed his sword. Swing by swing the Scatheless yelled where the sword was going to hit next.
"Your, snake! Thats-" Yes Scatheless was no ordinary snake. "That's right, he is the white snake of wisdom, from the pool of nimue!" Giraldus glowed as Scatheless swirled around his neck and onto the hilt of the sword. "As long as he has a strong bond he can predict your next move, which is why I will end you!" The king of the lurkers watched in horror as the blade descended with a last sight.
"So, you have what it takes, hmm kid?" King Tomiraki walked around a marble pillar on the other side of the room. The dark drapes of his cloak trailed onto the floor as he came to the dead body of Lurker lord. "Next time you want a wolf killed, send your bounty hunters." Giraldus spat.
"Ending a life is not for a Knight to do unless they are pure evil, and if I am correct then he was. Plus you're a Knight." He said, swishing back over to his throne. "But I always read there were three trials-"
"There are and you passed them. One slay an evil terrorist. Two fight with dignity and save a maiden. Three, use magic, and fight with passion. You did all of these." Giraldus padded up to the king. Whipping out a sword of what looked like the stars, he put it on each side. "I hereby dub you, Sir Giraldus, Knight of the round table."
Around him seven other wolves had appeared and were pointing their swords at him. Then they sheathed them and clapped. The wolves around him he knew! There was Sir Mizuki, and Lord Blackstar, and- all of the officials from Arthur the Lionhearted's court! Except the king himself? "You and the other knights must make haste and fend off the east coast from raiders, the King will meet you there." King Tomiraki explained.
They looked at each other, until someone yelled, "Last one there is buy the tavern a round of ale!" Gwain. He thought, the most fun person a wolf could ever come by. The knights leaped into action bounding out the door and to the eastern wall, except Giraldus. "What are you waiting for! We are gonna be broke if we have to pay, Let's go!" Scatheless hissed bouncing. Giraldus bowed to the king of silence and tore off after his new colleagues, as a Knight of the round table.
