APPARENTLY THE FIRST SECOND LETHAL MUTATION ON SITE DOCUMENTED??? And from the first breeding of my lead girl with my pretty white masked stud Icefoot to boot. So um. This happened.
Oh heck a correction actually-- seems like there was one prior, we were within about a hundred numbers of each other! SPIDER BUDDIES. Look at her! This darling is technically the second lethal mutation on site then I think, by ID?
For the curious, little Wisp was a complete accident: a product from the first litter between my lead (fairly run of the mill, if pretty) wolf Snowface and my custom'd stud Icefoot. Snowface was/is a completely normal wolf with no special attributes and (literally) average fertility, and she was properly nested at the time of the litter. I've seen some theorizing that mutants may be determined/rolled whenever a female becomes pregnant vs. at the time of birth due to how the first mutations (Wisp and Recluse) popped up-- I believe-- fourish days after News announced the implementation of mutes/immortal slots, and Snowface was incidentally bred on that night, but I have no idea how to substantiate it, if that's even possible. Who knows!
For the curious, you also get a charmingly distressing "unusual puppy" prompt in your rollover synopsis when this happens, seen here. A C/P:
"Unusual Puppy
When New Puppy was born, the sight of her frightened her mother. There's just... Too many legs for one puppy to have. The legs seem to be growing out of its body as though there's another puppy hidden deep inside of it. She's moving, however, and she tries to suckle milk."
A member of Grouse House has been given the above screenshot and also (I think) added it to a Wolvden wiki. And that's about all there is on this kiddo so far. She's a really special kid from the litter I was looking most forward to on the site (my pair's first!) and she even inherited the aesthetic they share, so she'll definitely be staying with me as a little god of the resident pack.
