PERSONALITY
Kalan was conscientious and ethical, with a strong sense of right and wrong. She was the first pupsitter of the pack and established the role - she was a teacher to the pack's young. She considered herself an advocate for change: she was always striving to improve things, but was always afraid of making a mistake. Well-organised, orderly, and fastidious, she tried to maintain high standards, but could occasionally slip into being critical and perfectionist.

BACKGROUND
Kalan was born to the late Wiesława, the herbalist and one of the first members of the pack. At a young age she struggled with an absentee mother figure: her mother had duties to the park as the herbmixer and often couldn't find time for her daughter. 
Among her litter was Aniela<, her sister, who would remain in the pack and later become the second-in-command. They didn't get along very well when they were young: Kalan was grounded and precise whereas Aniela had a tendency to be ditzy, unconcentrated, and imaginative.
Kalan was mentored by the Leader and Founder, Czesc'ie, who she later fell in love with and married. While Kalan went into being a pupsitter and looking after the young, Aniela became a prophet and an oracle for the Ancients: her disorganised nature suited her for this field.

FAMILY
Kalan had one sister, Aniela.
She was the wife of the pack Leader and Founder, Czesc'ie, who had been her mentor. Together they had a daughter: Nysz.
