Hyrax was found on the pack's borders by Tanti as a young adolescent. He was lanky, awkward-looking, and he kept his head down- not saying anything even as Tanti introduced herself as the alpha's eldest daughter. The moon was high in the sky when he was found, and shortly after, a heavy storm rolled in.
Tanti accepted this as an omen. In a desperate bid to overthrow her father and take a more powerful position within the pack, she declared Hyrax her adoptive son and took him home to begin raising him… and coaxing him into a position to overthrow Alpha Tempest. Tanti saw potential in Hyrax, and even refused to name him within the pack's structure of T names following Alpha Tempest.
Tanti failed to realize that Hyrax was not blindly following her. Tanti's other adoptive child, Tharn, was an eager acolyte who left Tanti feeling a little too comfortable for a wolf who is formulating a coup. Hyrax let her believe that he was loyal to her- eager for the opportunity to assert himself alpha of an established pack.
Juvenile Hyrax snuck out often at night, occasionally bringing back strangers his age to join the pack. Few wolves batted an eye at this, as the pack had little experience with drama and was entirely comfortable with outsiders- even strange ones brought in by a young adoptee. Among these wolves were Minnow, Speedwell, Hanover, and Pipkin- who kept their old names and refused to conform to the pack's naming standard. Along with Hyrax, they all make up a group of promising young wolves who are outcompeting the pack natives.
