Biography
About Realgar
Realgar was born to Qaletaqa IV and Tuere III, the great leaders of the pack Song of Hiawatha. When she was a young pup, barely weaned, she dug up a strange staff and refuses to let anyone else have it. It's strange nature (and admittedly play-worthy feathers) intrigued her, and she developed a keen desire to learn where this staff came from. Despite being well-loved by her family, she yearned to explore the great wilderness and create her own path to follow.

Lore contained in the spoiler
After a moment to rest and regain her strength, Realgar was visited by the clan's leader, Cian. She explained her desire to learn more about her mysterious staff and Cian summoned a different pair of wolves to her side: Cailleach, the clan's druid, and Oisín, Cian's son and clan storyteller—also known as a seanchaide. Both were instructed to do whatever necessary to help her uncover the true origin of the staff. However, as Cailleach often had other duties to attend to, Realgar spent most of her time researching leads with Oisín.
She would soon come to learn that Oisín was a wolf of very few words. The two often poured over notes or listened to the garda wolves' expedition tales in silence. However, that didn't mean that he didn't care for her. Slowly, Realgar noticed the little ways Oisín was looking out for her—making sure she didn't miss a meal or that she had the most comfortable patch of moss to sit in while they worked. When he went to fetch water, he would always bring her some regardless of whether she asked. The first real sentence he spoke to her was out of concern when she came into his den with her pelt ruffled from a poor night's sleep.
"I didn't know what to make of you at first," Oisín admitted one day over a late dinner.
The two had stayed up far past moonrise to connect some of the bits from the latest expedition up north. Realgar knew they were onto something now. The craftsmanship in the trinkets was close to that on the staff. Could it have come from further north? And if so, what was its purpose? The thoughts had been buzzing in her brain just moments before, but this statement from her research partner gave her pause.
"Well," she asked, "What do you think now?"
"I think you're wonderful."
Their relationship soon blossomed from gentle care to warm words, sweet caresses, and knowing glances between the two. While standard marriage was out of the question—after all, Realgar would soon have to move on to continue her journey—Oisín still made a point to carry out the clan's physical traditions. He surprised her one night under a moonlit sky with two glistening silver bracelets for them to wear. She, in return, had a surprise of her own to show him: he would be a father.
Then, about a moon later, everything changed. Oisín returned to his stoic self without so much as an explanation to her. He started acting nervous around her and would avoid her altogether if he had the chance. She was barred from their daily walks to visit the returning explorers or confer with Cailleach about possible theories. At first, she assumed it was just anxiety around the pups, but as time dragged on she began to suspect it was something more insidious.
It wasn't until one of the garda confirmed her worse fears that she felt her heart plummet. Oisín had found a concrete lead about the staff. Moreover: he had purposefully kept that information from her.
The snowy-pelted wolf informed her later that morning that the staff could be an unfinished northern cursing rod. Some wolves used them to cast all sort of nasty spells on their enemies. Traditionally, however, these staves were much larger and planted directly into the ground.
"I didn't want you to leave!" He explained hurriedly, following her out of the den and into the surrounding woods, "Alright? I was afraid. I didn't want you to go. I thought you were happy here—that we were happy here."
"That doesn't give you the right to keep something like this secret from me. You could've sabotaged my entire journey! It's the whole reason I came here in the first place, Oisín."
"It's not like you haven't kept secrets from me!" He retorted.
"Not like this!"
"Maybe not this, but other things—"
"You always knew that this was going to end. It wasn't a secret!" Realgar snapped, turning on heel to face him, "You knew I wasn't going to stay. I can't." She tore her gaze from him, "Especially now."
A heavy blanket of silence fell between them like the snow Realgar first endured before finding Clann Ceilte. While the two were used to the sound of silence between them, this felt different—uncomfortable, like sitting on a thistle stalk. She desperately wanted to get up and leave but found herself rooted to the spot, staring down at her paws. Finally, Oisín found the courage to speak.
"What about the pups?"
She sighed, "I'll remain until they're weaned—but no longer. You can decide what you'd like to tell your pack."
In the end, Realgar bore two pups and left before either could get attached. She offered to give the bracelet back, but Oisín refused saying that he would rather she keep it as a memento of their time together.
"That way, if you ever cross into our territory again—you know… If you ever decide to visit—no wolf will harm you." He said sheepishly, "They'll know you're under our protection."
The last thing she saw was his shrinking form, planted firmly on the border, as she crossed and continued her search.

Lore: Hesitant to get attached after what happened with Oisín, Realgar wandered for a ways alone. Eventually, she stumbled across a lost pup, sopping wet and trapped on a stone in the middle of a river. There was no sign of the mother anywhere, but after coaxing the pup to trust her to guide him to the bank, he revealed that he had snuck away from his den after a fight with his adoptive parents, and gotten horribly lost. Realgar offered to help him find his way back, which the pup gratefully accepted.
The worried pack was relieved to see their pup safe, and offered a safe place for Realgar to rest awhile, in exchange for helping look after a few of the pups. She accepted, but soon enough the dirt and strain of travel had worn off, and she grew restless once more.
