Halloween tries futilely to wipe her tears, sitting in the nursery. Her Adoptive father, Silver-root, died before she could show him her first litter of pups. She hears a rustling, and sees Mollusk poking his head in. "I'm sorry to hear about your father's passing. I may be new, and may have snapped a few times at his early chittering, but I enjoyed it a tad. May you indulge me in stories of puphood with him? I wish to learn more of this pack. It may help you grieve as well." Halloween looked at him curiously and beckoned him forward, tail thumping twice against the mossy bedding. "I suppose there is no harm in it. There was one time he was training me and the other pups around my age. We were tracking, he had an herb tied to his tail. I had almost caught up to him, when I heard the most terrifying growl. An unfriendly bear had caught wind of the ripe berries swaying from his tail tip. I thought we were goners when it raised it's paw to swipe, but Riverswallow suddenly emerged with the entire hunting party behind him. One big simultaneous growl was all it took for the bear to flee! And another time...." They stayed like this, talking, until the floral scent of the nursery lulled them to sleep
