You notice that she spends a lot of time around the hillock with Jasper, shadowing him on his visits with Herbert, helping him gather herbs, and even lending a paw toward mixing medicines.
At first you think it's because she has feelings for him (and you feel bad for her, figuring that she must not know about the herbalist's homosexuality).
You mention this to Freesia during a casual conversation. The leader responds by snorting.
"She was an herbalist herself where she came from," Freesia explains. "Jasper said he could use the extra paws, so that's what she does."
When Freesia met her, she was an outcast from Minwishpayi'ii. What she'd done—or what had happened—to result in her banishment, no one would ever know, as Chickadee would never tell.
Despite her dubious past, Freesia welcomed her to River Run. She quickly found her niche with Jasper, a development that the mild-mannered herbalist both welcomed and encouraged.
As far as Freesia and Jasper are concerned, Chickadee is an honorary herbalist-in-training. Others bitterly consider her to be a sketchy freeloader.
