You watch Laika, first of the pack huff out a laugh, though there's no humor or amusement in her gaze. She always seemed so tired— but there are times when her ears would perk up and the heavy aura of sadness around her would lighten so much that you couldn't help comparing it to when the sun would reflect off the ocean.
You try to see what she was looking at but all you catch is a glimpse of your leaders brown tail before she's gone. Glancing back at Laika it's clear whatever had made that rare smile tug at her lips was gone too.
