He knew his days were coming shorter as he taught the young his final lessons, and knew he needed to impart his wisdom one last time. He set aside a few of the pups he taught and watched grow up, seeing their thirst for knowledge and joy of teaching, and gave them one final lesson. They each held on to the lesson, eyes full of knowing and sadness, and promised to not let his teachings disappear from the pack. As he laid his head down that final night, he looked upon the old stones he used to teach the pack's young, and smiled, knowing his family would keep learning and growing without him.
His body felt light, as he ascended, and felt his body morphing. There was no pain, but only fascination. Swirls of dust gathered on his fur and he felt his third eye open further. His knowledge was limitless, and when he saw their future, he smiled.
