north

found injured by woof during a cataclysmic event, north has been welcomed into the pack. it wasnt apparent at first but it seems that north may not actually be a wolf, though it tries its best to mimic the appearance, it struggles with its mannerisms and sounds

in reality north is a black shuck, a ghostly black entity that has decided to take on the role of a wolf. most of the other wolves try to avoid north but it always seems to end up following them anyways, more comfortable watching than talking. its not good with puppies. other wolves suspect something might be off with north, but woof is fully trusting of north

north has taken on the role of herbalist after the previous herbalist went missing
during one of black bear, the previous herbalist, foragings north decided to follow him, before this it probably watched him make medicines, very interested and thats where north got its knowledge of medicines from. but there can only be one wolf herbalist, so during a foraging north followed and created an accident

it would be the only time north directly hurt one of the other pack members. its not usually violent, but it really really wanted to take and observe the pack in black bears place

it was a crime of opportunity, black bear got into a fight with a buck and was pierced wirg the antlers, too hurt to get back. instead of helping black bear, north kept him company while he bled out. it then got rid of his body somehow, and when north came back without black bear and was asked what happened, it said that they had split off from each other pretty early on to "help look for different herbs" and couldnt find black bear again

it was weird but nobody had any reason to assume it had done something to black bear. woof sent out a search party right away but nobody could find anything. due to all of its observation, north was the next most knowledgeable wolf so it was put in the position of herbalist

being the herbalist lets it be around sick or injured wolves, north thinks its interesting to observe its very good but needs to be bribed with food to actually make the medicine
