You hear slightly rushed steps sounding inside the medicine den and out of curiosity, you decide to step in. You see a pale looking wolf coated in a sliver pelt which seems to adsorb all the sunlight. She doesn't seem to notice you as she's munching on a couple of herbs. You loudly clear your throat and lash your tail dismissively so it hits the cave entrance. She flinches and spits out the herbs before facing you.
"What do you need? If it's not serious, please leave as I'm in a hurry! Silas has a ranging headache, and wounds he refuses to let me heal before I tend to the rest of the pack and now he can't lead his hunting patrols as he used too. If I fail this, I might accidentally make him worse."
Before you respond, you take a look around the den. Shelves and shelves of different plants and herbs can be seen. Some you've never even heard of or smelt before. You feel dizzy from all the scents and try and focus on the canine in front of you.
"I'm sorry, I'm new to this pack and was just trying to explore. May I ask what happened?"
Sierra, the herbalist, quickly nods. She grabs one of the wooden bowls in the corner with her jaws and places it in front of you, the clatter from it hitting the ground making you tense your muscles. Sierra then takes hold of a moss coated ball which seems to be oozing water out of it. She squishes the water into the bowl and pushes it towards you. A sigh escapes her throat and she sits down beside you. As you gently lap the water in between your teeth and tongue, she beings to speak,
"Pack attack. It was random and unexpected. Silas and four of his toughest warriors were on a hunting patrol and while they were digging holes to place their deer and mice in, a pack of six came out from the bushes and attacked them. Silas was the one who was mostly wounded from the battle. He sent two of the warriors to get more wolves in on the fight, and most of the pack left to join them. They managed to win, but they were so close to dying. If Silas had taken one more cut from another wolves claws, he would have fainted and maybe even passed away." She shook her head. "What am I saying? Silas is a powerful one. He has suffered much, but he is unbeatable. Now go, I still need to tend to his cuts. He's bleeding as we speak!"
The herbalist then ushers you out of the den, banging her tail against the floor as a sign for you to leave. You take in all the information you can and decide to rest, you're tired as it is from all the travelling and the thought of fighting exhausts you even more. Maybe pack life isn't for you, after all.
