Araya

Name: Araya (uh-rye-uh)
Background: Araya dispersed from her pack quite young, with much prompting from an older brother. They romed together, looking for a new pack, or in her brother's case, a mate. When he did finally encounter a receptive female, Araya was allowed to join the budding pack. However as mating season drew nearer, the other female began to behave agressively toward her. Not wanting to break up her brother's new pack, Araya decided it was better if she left. Life was much harder on her own. She grew very eager to find a new family.

Personality: The loss of her first two daughters deeply changed Araya. She has become nervous and unsure, always double and triple checking on everything and everyone - especially the pack's puppies. This behavior can be maddening for some, but it does come from a place of love. Araya often needs reassurance, which Kronor tries to provide, though usually to little sucess.

Year 0-1

• Meets Kronor some time after separating from her brother. She relishes his companionship and quickly agrees to join his new pack. They make their way into the mountains.
• The two grow close and have their first litter, officially beginning the Highrange pack.
• Her first two daughters wander off and the inexperienced pair is unable to find them. Araya is devastated, and becomes more withdrawn and distant. The resulting turmoil between Araya and Kronor withers their romance, and the two become more like close companions.

Year 1, Autumn

• After the loss of their first litter, both Araya and Kronor begin scouring the land for lost or orphaned puppies. Any that they find are taken in. The pair dotes on them endlessly; Araya in particular. The puppies are never allowed out of sight, and Araya drops all other duties to care for them. Lirileth, being an independent child, finds this suffocating and the two often come into conflict. However, the other puppies become very attached to her. Araya and Kronor see all of them as their own. Both are extra protective of Enna, the youngest.

Year 1, Winter

• Enna becomes old enough to be left on her own, so Araya beings hunting with Deyra to help feed the pack.

Year 1, Spring

• Araya stops hunting with Deyra, who now has Serana to assist her. Instead, Araya begins once again searching for lost or abandoned puppies to shelter and raise, which are more common in the spring. Kronor gives her the title of "Denmother," and she becomes the highest ranked pup-sitter and midwife for the pack. The work brings her solace.
