Tundra

You pad through the frosty tundra, the shadows cast by scattered birch and spruce trees stretching long and thin across the snowy terrain. You continue to search around the sparse forest, your ears pricked and eyes alert. You were sent by the herbalist, Citrus, to retrieve Tundra, her apprentice. You twitch your ears in annoyance- Citrus always expects so much out of everybody, always acting like she has so much authority just because she's the herbalist. She should have gone out to search for him herself!, you think to yourself. Sure, I'm a scout, but I search for land, not wolves!
The pair of vague pawprints you've been following stop abruptly- you look up, confused. A faint snoring comes from your left- you look over and see Tundra napping under a wide spruce tree. Various sprigs of herbs were tucked between his paws, as if he had just sat down holding them and fallen asleep. That probably is what he did. You snort to yourself. Walking up to Tundra, you prod him in the side with your paw.
"Wha?-" He wakes with a start, confused. "It's almost dusk, hare-brain," you say. "Citrus sent me to find you. What were you even doing out here?" Tundra blinks his sightless eyes, face blank. "...Uhhh.." He sniffs around, suddenly aware of the herbs in his paws. "Oh! I was collecting dandelions for healing salves. Arashi's always needing them after coming back from battles", he says brightly.
"..And why were you out here napping? You should've been back hours ago."
"I just got sleepy!", he protests. You eye him unimpressed, letting your annoyance hang in the air. "Alright, alright, I'm going!" The young wolf heaves himself upright and lazily shakes his pelt out, following you home unenthusiastically.
