Oren

He's the son of Meave and Cress. With his anxious personality, he chose to become a pupsitter, so he can stay close to the den. He is the older brother of Alon and Fiore.

On his first day of training, he felt very anxious. The first lesson was tussling, not something he enjoyed much. But Oliver challenged him to a match and he reluctantly agreed. Oliver clawed his nose pretty badly. Brier intervened and got Oliver to apologize, but Oren didn't feel like practicing much after that. He stayed close to Brier who took him to see Fire after the lesson was over.

His second day of training was once again together with Oliver and Alder, which made him a bit nervous, what if it was another round of tussling? But he was relieved when Rowan told them this would be a lesson in socializing. They were to work together to find gifts for all the other pack members.

On the third day of training, he got to join Oakley as Clove guided them through their pack's territory. When they came to a stream he was ready to jump in but was stopped by Clove. She told him that having wet fur in the middle of winter wasn't a good idea. She then showed the two pups how to cross using rocks and dry patches, a much safer and healthier alternative.

Four days into training and he got to spend the day playing hide and seek with Oliver and Oakley. Rowan would be the one to seek, and after each round, he would give them pointers on how to improve their hiding. Oren quickly learned how to make use of his darker coat, and soon Rowan couldn't find him. He stayed hidden for a long time but came out when a frantic Rowan had gone to find his parents to help look. He got an earful from his mother who yelled at him. At first, he found this unfair. He had finally found something he was really good at but now his mother scolded him for it? Cress would then explain to him that wolves from neighboring packs had begun going missing over the last few days, and that his mother was just worried about him. Luna then told the pack that for the foreseeable future, all pup training should take place within smelling distance of the den.

The next morning Oren and his friends were told their lesson would be held at night. This made him slightly nervous, he had never liked being out in the dark. All those weird shadows didn't feel right. And Oliver's assistance that they would be tracking ghosts didn't do anything to calm his nerves. By the time Rowan came around he asked if he could sit this one out, maybe he could stay and protect the den? Rowan gave a small chuckle before he reassured him that they wouldn't have to worry about any ghosts where they were going. They were brought to a small cliff with a great view of the night sky. Rowan explained that tonight they would practice their howling. Alder took to it almost immediately, and Oren was mesmerized by his beautiful voice. Oliver didn't seem to be putting much effort in, constantly looking around as if still trying to find the ghosts. This made Oren even more nervous, and his howls just kept coming out as squeaks.

Learning to recognize herbs is an important lesson. However, the knowledge that if he chose the wrong herb he could end up killing someone was too much for his nerves. He spent the entire lesson constantly doubting and second-guessing his choices.

On his last day of training, Fire asked him to join her while gathering herbs. While working she explained to him that they should not take too many herbs from one spot. If they did then the herb wouldn't continue to grow there, and they would need to constantly wander further and further to find them again. One must also take care not to trample any, as they are far too valuable.
