Biography
He is the son of Senna and Riniel, a wolf from another pack. The adults in the pack were quite surprised when they first saw him. His dark coat mixed with the white patterning made him look like a skeleton, and when he opened his eyes, they saw he had inherited his mother's strange eyes. This, paired with the fact that his mother had lost three of his siblings at birth earned him the name Spirit. As Luna learned more about the strange things happening outside of their home, she began to wonder. Was Spirit's father truly a normal wolf?
The first morning after he moved into the pup den, Spirit was picked up by Marigold for his first lesson. As he was now meant to become a chaser she wanted to evaluate his speed and agility. Although he wasn't anywhere near as fast as her, Marigold was surprised by how dexterous the little pup was. Whenever she caught up to him he nearly always managed to somehow slink past her. She felt quite confident that she had selected the perfect pup to take her place in the Northstar hunting party.
After having spent some time building up his speed and reaction time, Spirit found it quite boring to just sit around and wait for birds to show up. In the end, he was so bored that he fell asleep. He was chastised by Marigold who told him that he would need more patience. A large part of a hunt is waiting for the right moment to strike.
Moving forward in his training, Spirit spent a lot of time trying to track down prey. On this one occasion, however, he got confused. He was tasked with tracking down a grouse feather that Marigold had hidden somewhere, but the scent seemed to come from several spots. When he saw Marigold's smirk he realized that she was testing him, but he was determined to prove he was smart enough to figure it out. After some time, he finally managed to track it down and brought it back to her, head held high and a pep in his step.
He had been told many times that stalking was an important technique for any hunter to learn, even if they weren't going to take on that position. Over several days, Spirit attempted to sneak up on Marigold, both during and outside of lessons, but she caught him every time. He was starting to wonder whether Marigold had eyes in the back of her head.
After learning the basics in a familiar area, Marigold took Spirit to train outside the den for a new, exciting challenge. Spirit had to ambush Marigold using all the knowledge gathered so far and see how different it is in an unfamiliar area.
With the carcass tied to a straw string, Marigold pulled it to simulate prey movement. Spirit stalked and pounced on the "prey" successfully, and began to tear it apart before he was scolded to be more precise and not let food go to waste.
Prey will not necessarily be easy to take down even once they are caught, so Marigold decided it was time for some strength training for Spirit. He gripped as tightly as he could to Marigold's back while she shook and thrashed as much as she could to try and loosen Spirit's grip.
