Asteria was but a pup, when the dying breath of Charmian was uttered and the pack was left leaderless.
She was but a pup when Lunar, spry, solemn Lunar took place as alpha.
She was just beginning to crawl when the lights started flickering, and day by day Lunar was gone.
Until that dreadful morning: She heard growls, the raised tone of her mother, Ardian.
"No. I will not let you-"
"We have no choice," he answered. Lip curled back.
"Would you rather every one be taken?"
"Find another way," she snarled.
Snarls, yips, and growls filled the outside of the cave. She could hear the scratch of fur and bone and knew her mother had challenged Lunar's terms, tooth and claw, but she did not know what they were fighting for.
That day, her litter was taken - her two brothers, Ardin and Aden, never to be seen again.
She didn't know why, but her mother refused to talk about it.
It was only as an adolescent she heard of the Faelcu, Bronagh, and the terrible exchange to seal the spirit away. Her littermates for peace. For Bronagh's lost litter long ago.
She vowed to one day challenge Lunar, but for now, she sought to find her siblings. Head down, follow orders, scout. She would find a way to reach Bronagh - and if not, she would get her revenge.
