Hermes

Hermes is the daughter of Aether, the Elysian Field's first traveling wolf. Because Hermes was too young to travel with her mother, she was adopted by Maia, who was married to Zeus at the time. She still retained a close relationship with Aether, however, who visited whenever she could and brought back many gifts. Hermes was also close to her sister Selene, who was born the Aether and raised by Hyperion and Theia.
After Aether's death, Selene and Hermes inherited the many things their mother had collected and split them. Hermes decided she wished to follow in her mother's foot steps and become a traveler, though conflict within the pack prevented her from leaving for a while.
After Athena took over the pack and stability returned, Hermes began her journey, still returning to visit her sister and the pack she calls home.

The river ahead was beginning to melt, trickles of water flowing down to the lower mountain region and eventually to the forests far below.
She turned back for a moment to nod to the group of wolves watching her go.
Athena, who stood at the front nodded back. Beside her, Selene smiled through glistening tears.
Hermes turned to the river and began walking, the cold snow clinging to her paws.

Lore (optional): SpoilerUnlike with most travelers, it was known to Yliaster that Hermes was about to arrive, and many of them awaited her eagerly. But Hermes was not like the other travelers - she was no stranger. Or at least, her name wasn't. During the reign of Queen Stella Signata, Hermes' mother Aether had taken shelter in Yliaster, and was fondly remembered.
When Hermes arrived in the taiga in the season of spring, 9SE of the Yliastrian calendar, she realized she was retracing her mother's steps. She had walked past the same rivers, gazed at the same mountaintops, and howled at the same moon. She tried to imagine what it would have been like when Aether first stepped out into the unknown, and quietly hoped her spirit was watching over.
At Yliaster, the pack was going through a "pup boom", over 30 new pups were born into the pack, which was a historical record. There was scarcely any opportunity for Hermes to lie down and relax - her help was desperately needed. Hermes spent most of her time in Lyfjaberg, with the Brothers and Sisters of the Vale, who entrusted her with the care of two pups, one of whom was a lilac-coloured female with otherworldly fae eyes. The little pup was charming and obedient, craving for a kind word of approval. Hermes later learned that this sweet girl had a cruel and uncaring mother, Mosphora, who was not to be trusted despite being Queen Lyconia Ava'al's half-sister. Rumour has it that Mosphora used a dark ritual with forbidden plants to make herself conceive, and there were doubts as to whether the pup's father was even of this world. Regardless, after a difficult labour, Mosphora was unhappy with her pups and rejected them completely.
The pups grew as fast as the flower sprouts, and soon it was summer. Yliaster's King, Kyllikke Ava'al, had decided to migrate the pack south into the depths of the coniferous forest where prey were more plentiful and easier to hunt. It was a great undertaking, especially with this many pups, but the warm weather and sunny skies made the journey much more pleasant.
Once the pack had settled, Hermes was exhausted. Although she loved Yliaster and made many friends there, she wanted to be free to roam the world again, especially in such a beautiful summer. Hermes informed the Brothers and Sisters of the Vale that it was time for her to leave. Brother Mabók, with whom she spent much time, advised her to leave quietly when the pups are asleep, to prevent them from clinging to her or going after her. Hermes took her chance on one early morning. The sun was bright and the forest humid, but she knew that as long as she didn't stray too far from the cool river, the heatweave was nothing she couldn't handle.

Lore (optional): SpoilerIt was Winter when Hermes arrived at her home pack, her fur sticking up in every direction and covered in frost. The sun was sinking slowly, the rainbow of the sunset reflecting off of the ice and her light fur. Pallas, a hunter she knew of but had never been close to was the first to spot her. He hurried her to a nearby den, "You must be freezing, after all!", and called to a dark red wolf Aether didn't recognize to fetch Selene.
She was there within minutes, her blue tail wagging furiously as other pack members gathered around the cave to say hello. "You have to tell us everything!" Selene insisted. "We've missed you so!"

Hermes stayed for a few days, telling the other pack members stories of her travels. She spent much of her time with Pan and Selene. As she prepared to leave, Hermes asked Pan to come with her and travel together a while. Pan agreed enthusiastically.
