Beltane

A warm voice, the sound coaxing as the male cracked open his eyes. Her voice beckoned him, forcing his chilled gaze to look up at the ebony figure that stood before him.

Frosted lashes made it almost impossible for him to blink, but he dared not too— he feared she would disappear if he did.

Ever so softly, the she-wolfs tail flicked in his direction. A bright, burning leaf lept from the tip of her tail, fluttering in a flurry around his head. The Autumn colored frond landed on his forehead, ears pinning backwards as a sudden warmth spread throughhis body. Heat began to boil his blood, toes able to wiggle once more as his legs stiffened with vigor.

He did as he was told, unable to disobey the she-wolf. The new determination he felt was not conjured up by the thought of surviving but because he wanted to see her smile as he rose from the snow.

She did not disappoint, her lips tugging upwards as her canines flashed him a gentle smile. He took a step towards that welcoming embrace.
