("Raven")
Fern's oldest son, Raven's Flight has always been a bit of a dreamer.
From a young age, the dark-colored male was known for wandering off and exploring the world around him. It was fairly easy for him to do, as he was one of a litter of four, all of whom were born in winter, something Sheer Cliffs laws saw as "selfish" on his mother's part, and "inconvenient" on his and his littermates. While they were never out-right cruel to him, his litter was never given first priority in much of anything- according to law, they couldn't be, if they were to survive the harshness of the mountains, they needed to be strong, and it was best to learn it early.
As he and his littermates grew older, Raven slowly began to understand the anger his Packmates had. His mother had known the law when having them - what if the food that could have gone to feeding them caused someone else to starve? For a while, he considered leaving the Pack, as guilt began to consume him.
Her son had fallen into a deep depression and isolated himself from the others when Fern finally addressed him. It was her decision, one she didn't regret at all. His mother apologized for being so distant, not helping protect him better - she had been unaware of it, after River returned her to hunting...
Raven returned to training, although he did pass his Trial late, and enjoyed Scouting. It gave him the freedom to explore, see new lands... Get away from his Packmates... But, he could always return home and tell grand stories! He was the only one of his litter to stay, which was an odd feeling...
Near the end of his training, a young wolf named Acorn arrived, with his cousin Rose. The two were the grand-pups of the Pack's Lead Fighter, Thunder, and the Pack was cautious of their arrival, due to the actions of Thunder's last pup. Recognizing the same ostracization he and his littermates had received growing up, Raven welcomed them, and slowly became friends with them. Rose was gentle and kind, while Acorn was adventurous, independent, unafraid to speak his mind. Acorn soon also began training as a Scout.
Raven found himself spending more and more time with Acorn - partly because they got along so well, and partly because of their shared ranks. He soon found himself showing the golden patched wolf his favorite places, telling his favorite stories...
And, when they both passed their Trials, they both became mates.
Raven was the happiest he had ever been.
Seasons passed.
Raven was no longer seen as the "weak winter pup" but a strong, valued member of the Pack. Acorn and Rose were no longer "suspicious outsiders" but a "loyal scout" and "loving pup-sitter" respectively. Ranks had shifted paws as wolves died, and old ideas with them.
Tension was beginning to settle into the Pack as the Alphas aged, their new Heir tentatively selected from their numerous pups. Respected pack-members had died, and successors had yet to be named. And now, the Pack had been attacked by another, a Pack of strangers. Many had died in the fight, including Thunder, while protecting her mate.
Acorn had decided he wanted to leave the Pack, and Raven agreed. The urge to wander had been with him for a while now, and this... This only solidified it.
Raven's Flight and Acorn eventually decided to leave the Pack, hoping to escape the unrest Sheer Cliffs was facing, and possibly more adventures together.
