Kestrel

Although there are multiple species of kestrel, the most notable are the Eurasian (Common) kestrel and the American kestrel. Both have been nicknamed the "sparrow hawk", although the kestrel is a falcon species, not a hawk. The American Kestrel is found throughout North and Central America, and is one of the smallest falcon species in the world. It is also one of only 4 raptor species in North America that displays sexual dimorphism, in that the male and female have different color variations. Female AKs have brown streaking throughout, whereas the males will have slate gray colored wings.
