Kakōgan means granite in Japanese.
A prince who lost his crown.
Kakōgan was the rightful heir of the Shūji Pack but his mother パンダ wanted another female to take her place so she favored another pup over her own. Taka became the appointed heir of Shūji instead of Kakōgan. Losing the crown has only made him slightly bitter and increased his bossy nature. He dislikes Taka and will often roll his eyes behind her back and often questions her motives and thoughts quite openly. Since he's older all her bossing him around doesn't work yet as she hasn't become Queen yet.
He's 5th in line for the crown but the 2nd crown prince. He's accepted his mother's wishes.
Once Taka assumed her role of the new Queen she renamed the pack and stripped the crown further from Kakōgan. He was no longer in the running for the crown as she removed his title of 2nd crowned prince from him. Kakōgan grew even more bitter and began to take his hunting duties less seriously and grew desperate for retaliation.
After a few months, he spotted his chance, Chītā. Chita was the mother of the king who was the mate of Taka, Kogane. Although she was 2 years older than Kakōgan he began to court her in hopes that she'd fall for him. He decided it was time to begin his plot of retaliation. Soon Kakōgan and Chītā became bonded and Chītā had her first and only litter with Kakōgan.
Kakōgan knew he'd only get one chance with Chītā to produce an excellent candidate for him to groom into what he wanted. This unfortunate pup was chosen and named by Kakōgan to begin his calculated plot of revenge. The one to carry out his revenge was none other than his own pup Yukihyō.
