Lore
While often disciplined for it, Rocky used to sneak out to steal herbs from the Herbalist's den, though now he is allowed to. Those close to him knew that he used the herbs to create dye for his hidden paintings. When he was still in his old pack, one of the high kith took out their anger on his paintings, destroying most of them he had made within the past couple of months. Since them, most of his time was spent moping around and daydreaming, afraid to create more out of fear.

Skittishly Rocky scampered forwards, away from the other unwanted wolves in the pack, and to the founder of his new pack, Breeze. The alpha was rather intimidating, cloaked in soft blue flames that flickered and snarled, along with a small pendant that glowed and seemed to whisper. Breeze raised her tail in farewell to the High Kith who had delivered him, who simply shot a glare at Breeze, judging the alpha for taking in this supposed disgrace.
Rocky let out a sad whine as the beta, Bark of the Trees, a pure brown wolf with a single blue orchid perched behind her ear, began to escort him away. The two walked for what seemed like hours, and eventually Rocky looked around for Breeze. The snowy colored wolf was gone, and Bark of the Trees (she apparently had no nickname, unlike the other wolves of the pack) noticed his small search as he tensed. "Lookin' for Alpha Breeze, are ya?" she asked in a surprisingly deep yet friendly voice. ` ` Y-yeah, ` ` he said quietly. "Breeze likes to go ahead, she's probably telling the others." Bark of the Trees then turned arund and continued walking as if she hadn't spoken at all. Rocky ran a little bit to keep up as the beta's pace quickened. Suddenly she stopped, and Rocky didn't have time to see why; suddenly the ground disappeared from beneath his paws.
Bark of the Trees lunged out and grasped Rocky by his neck scruff, setting him down on solid land. Turned out he was on an icy, snowy cliffside. "Follow my exact pawsteps," Bark of the Trees barked at him, then swiftly and deftly leapt down onto a small ledge handing off the cliff, then onto an even smaller ledge and onto a huge one, that looked sort of like this: Θ--Θ----Θ
Rocky followed carefully, and landed. Suddenly he realized what was going on about him: about twenty wolves worked in a bustling, huge cave, hauling in meals and treating their own injuries by licking them. Breeze was in this cave, and she shot a knowing wink at Rocky.
"This is the Cave of Hunters, Rocky," Bark of the Trees announced. Rocky nodded and slowly walked the narrow path to the next cave. In this one another twenty pups mewled, while some adolescents tussled with each other and bit sharply, though they didn't wound each other since they had such thick fur. "This is where pups and adolescents stay. It has no proper name, but some of us hunters call it the P/A den. You'll be staying here."
Rocky shuddered. ` ` Will they bite me? My fur isn't as thick as theirs, I'll get wounded. ` ` Bark of the Trees let out a small, amused chuckle. "You're going to pup-sit, not fight, so you won't be in here most of the time unless you're here to take care of a couple pups." Rocky glanced up and then back down. "I heard you liked to paint with some herbs. Sprouted probably won't like it, he's quite the snappy wolf. The only wolf he actually talks to without growling at is Red-Eyes, but I'm sure Breeze can make an exception, though you probably won't be able to take much. That brings us here: welcome to the Stream Through Rocks." Rocky looked around in awe. A small pool of water had a thin stream stemming from it. A couple of sick wolves lay in small nests, along with a small, gray-green female wolf who was pregnant and another, a thin-furred orangey-brown wolf who was also pregnant. They chatted happily as a couple incredibly young pups yawned, slept, or cried for milk from two nursing mothers. On the edges of the cave were deep grooves where a myriad of herbs were stored, along with a sassy-looking yellowy-orange wolf speaking with a pure black wolf with a white nose and an orangey wolf with red marks around his eyes.
Along with that, a small black wolf talked nervously to three pups, one dark one, one pastel-colored pup, and a piebald puppy with green and yellow colors down her side. The four all looked a tad bit nervous, often glancing in the direction of the other two dens. Rocky was concerned for a second, but more wolves caught his eyes. A beautifully patterned gray wolf spoke with another orangey wolf and a brown wolf, next to them a couple other pupsitters ran around with small feather scraps in their mouths as they tried to play with the pups in the den.
` ` Woah! Can I stay here? ` ` Rocky looked at Bark of the Trees with pure excitement in his eyes. Bark of the Trees laughed. "You'll live here when you're older, but for now I might as well leave you here to draw a bit." Rocky immediately jumped around and gathered a measly collection of colored herbs in his mouth, feeling Sprouted's burning, judgemental gaze on his back.

Rocky backed up from his first drawing and cocked his head, inspecting it carefully. It took a lot of work to even come up with such a sketch; he needed to sketch into a wall, for starters, and he had to learn how to use betrayer's claws to etch a design into the rocky cavern's walls, and the sound disturbed sleeping pups and the more heavily pregnant wolf, Olive, who was now sleeping deeply next to Raven's Eye, the other pregnant female. Sprouted was marveling over his sketch from a distance, whispering to his mate Red-Eyes the orange-colored scout, while White Nose, the other scout, observed from a distance. White Nose was quite the criticizing wolf; he clearly found some flaws in the sketch and made a disgusted grimace. Rocky looked at his paws for a moment before back at the sketch. A gorgeous rolling landscape, a couple of streaks up to represent rotting ice, and a cougar-like wolf, one that looked like his new packmates, crouched in the foreground, flaming blue eyes staring directly into Rocky's eyes. He thought it was a good sketch for his first time.
Sprouted unexpectedly startled Rocky by walking up and sliding over a blue-flowered herb that was shockingly rare in the glacier, along with a couple leaves and some sort of group of berries, like a grape bunch, though these berries were nearly identical to pearls.. '-Your art is worth it. Cover my cave in paintings and I'll be happy,-' Sprouted said, before walking off back to Red-Eyes, who was inspecting a feather. Rocky looked down at the herbs and smiled. It was the first time Sprouted hadn't gotten annoyed and shouted at Rocky to put a couple of herbs back.
Rocky had also been given a small wood bowl, carved out by one of Breeze's huge claws, and a stone pebble to mash the herbs up. He looked into the uneven bowl and slowly dropped a few white berries into it, then smashed them into a fine paste. He smudged it on the wall, and as he went on, he slowly got the hang of it. By the time he finished his artwork, his paws, the pebble, the bowl, and his shoulder were coated in herb paste, but the painting was a masterpiece. The cougar-wolf had a furry texture, a creamy white with neon blue flaming eyes, the rotting ice on the floor had claw marks to represent grassy ice. The sky was a stormy gray, patterned with white paw-prints to appear as clouds. Now that Rocky looked outside, the sky was a stormy gray; he'd stayed up from yesterday all the way to today's morning. Rocky yawned as soon as he realized how long he'd been up, and how he missed his sleep.
Sprouted sensed Rocky's sleepiness and quietly reached into his herb stores and made a bed of moss and leaves under Rocky's first painting, then nudged the adolescent into the nest. Rocky didn't complain and curled up, listening as Sprouted sat down and admired his artwork, soon joined by Raven's Eye, Red-Eyes, and White Nose. He fell asleep to the compliments the wolves in the den gave his drawing.

Rocky yawned and stretched in the cave, flicking his tail back and forth as he woke. He was officially a yearling today. Sprouted greeted him happily; the herbalist was always the first one awake and the last one asleep, but somehow he was also the most lively of the pack.
Despite there being only two wolves awake, it was still very quiet for the pack. Breeze, a newer wolf named Autumn's Cry, and Snarl of Sunlight were pregnant. Soon Permafrost would join them in the den. Even though there were so many wolves carrying pups, it was strangely quiet. Rocky shook himself out and sighed, before he leaned over and picked up a betrayer's claw and began to etch a sketch into the wall. He doodled for a while before he stepped back and looked at it; he'd drawn.. well, it was indistinguishable, at least it would be until he added the color. Rocky picked a single petal off of one of the flowers on the shelf after checking with Sprouted since all the stores except for aloe, dandelion, and charcoal were in decline. Rocky then proceeded to crush the petal up and smeared the blue coloring into triangles, then mixed a bit of white with it, slowly adding more white berries. Eventually the wall looked like water, or ice, or maybe a layer of ice above flowing water? Whatever it looked like, Rocky liked it. To incorporate the sketch Rocky drew a betrayer's claw through dark blue and outlined the sketch with it. He then placed a single pawprint on it in white, before he finished it. By then, the nursing wolves and a couple sick wolves had woken and were looking around. Suddenly a pup marked with a pawprint that meant she was going to be given away since the pack couldn't afford to keep her walked up and quietly asked, "May I try?" Rocky nodded and handed her the betrayer's claw before putting it back in the rock since the pup had claws. The pup giggled a little bit before she swiftly, deftly etched a lovely feather into the wall. Rocky passed her the bowl and the rainbow of petals and berries. The pup slowly, considerately painted a gorgeous fade from white, to yellow, to orange, to red, to pink, to purple, to blue. Rocky smiled; if this pup was staying, he'd have quite the time with her. Unfortunately, the pup wouldn't be staying, but before she ran back to her pupsitter Rocky wished her a good time with painting.
