Being AFAB but identifying as neither male nor female has created quite an interesting ride for Hailing Desert. They often hide that part of themself away, often choosing to not disclose the fact they are uncomfortable with her and his pronouns, often preferring to go with more neutral ones instead. They did this mainly because their birth pack was strict about what gender does what. Males were herbalists and fighters, meanwhile, females were the hunters and gatherers. While it was quite odd for the most part, most packs being the opposite, the strict gender roles that were enacted felt suffocating to Hail. They struggled to break free from it, often going to the council, pleading for change but getting a door to the face instead. Eventually, Skylight came along with Star Seeker, and things have been great ever since.
While the ex-communication from the birth pack was hard, Hailing Desert found peace in hunting for the group. Something they have grown to be quite good at. They went to Skylight, telling them this, and Skylight making sure they felt safe and comfortable, had named them the Lead Hunter and Beta of the Sorrowful Mountains pack.
While they're still struggling to adjust to what being a Beta really means, they're enjoying getting to know the new blood of the pack. While they eye up a certain someone…
