Ymir was taken in by The Winter and the Sky when he was very young. He was always a dreamer - staring up at the sky during the bleak winter when he was born. He wandered off his parents' territory one night, the shadows seemingly inviting him to run away. His parents weren't able to follow him, for the paw prints had vanished and his smell was somehow very faint. It seemed the snow and the dark had chosen Ymir as their firstborn daughter Hel's betrothed: for when they have a chosen one, they'll never let them go.
Ymir was the ancestor of the gods in Norse mythology.
