Brought into the pack by Kieston himself, Velkie had felt an attachment to the leader since the first moment she stepped foot into her new home. Greeted by a swarm of wolves of all colours, Velkie's first day had been hectic. Bustled around by the pupsitters for a tour of the place, playing with the other pups all day and being expected to remember each and every wolf's name had left her exhausted. By the time she rested in her new nest, she'd thought sleep would come to her easily. Instead, she found herself restless, unable to chase the wisps of dreams and left rolling around in the moss. Upset with herself, Velkie had sneaked out of the den and trekked across the main hollow, going where her legs were taking her. She had only realized she'd been walking into the leaders den when she'd seen him, wide awake, laying on the stone floor, staring at the starry night sky. Kieston had smiled at her when he noticed her presence, and he motioned to the empty space next to him with a swish of his tail. Curling up to his warmth, Velkie had finally fallen asleep. What she wouldn't know is that very moment had been when Kieston had sworn to protect her with everything he had.
