Meli has always loved pups. Ever since he was a youngster himself, he's always taken the younger, smaller pups under his wing. As an adolescent, most of the pack believed she'd take up a role like hunting, or even step in as Aniani's apprentice if Atoma didn't. But, he stood strong in his dream of helping the pack mothers pup-sit when they were gone or needed a break, always so good with how he treated them and dealt with their antics.
