• Pack Matriarch •
Mate: Diego, Lead Scout
Missy is a border collie, and a very capable matriarch. She is extremely independent, intelligent, and observant, and what she lacks in physical size she makes up for in strategy. She has a strong personality, and will back down from no fight. Her packmates say that her determination is admirable. She assembled her team of ragtag bandits herself, and called her pack the "Good Dogs" in defiance of her previous owners.
Missy was born on a cattle farm with wide, rolling fields - far from the forest. Her mother and father were both herding dogs, albeit from different farms. She never knew her father, but her mother was caring. Her mother and father's pairing was not intentional, and Missy's mother's owners abandoned Missy far away, on a gravel road that cuts through the forest she now calls home. She was just a few months old at the time.
The journey to get to where she is now was long and gruelling. She wasn't always so remarkable. Scared and confused, she had to figure out how to survive all on her own. Quickly, she learned that the forest was not her friend. She toughed it out for months and months, scavenging carrion and narrowly avoiding conflict with other forest residents. Soon enough, however, she got more certain of herself. As she grew, her skills grew with her. She gradually went from a clumsy puppy to a brave near-adult. She learned to hunt small game, heal her wounds, and fend off enemies - at least, the ones her size. And after a while, she felt the instinctual call to find a mate.
Diego happened upon her more than Missy happened upon him. "What would a german shepherd be doing all alone out in the woods?", she found herself thinking. Ironic. They were both so happy to find another dog that they instantly hit it off. Now, Missy leads the pack with Diego as her right-hand man.
Today, her story is widely known amongst her pack mates. She is no longer scared of what others will think of her and her background. Though most of the group are much larger in stature comparably, none could be larger in personality. Missy exudes softness and confidence in her stride - she is bossy yet playful, tough but caring, and her clan would rather have no other leader. She takes in those less fortunate, the wanderers, the seekers, the lonely, and gives them a home. In her pack, every dog is a good dog.
