Megaera

💞 Megaera, the Devoted Lover to the Queen 💞

Megaera had known from a young age that she always wanted a large family. The pack she was born into has upwards of twenty wolves, and she herself has several littermates. As she grows, she learns the ways of her pack, learns to use her keen yellow eyes to observe and her sharp mind to think before acting. But not everything can fulfill the wishful dreams of a pup, and after a change in leadership in her pack, Megaera finds herself on the outs. She hadn't gotten on with the new leader, and eventually she leaves her home.

Megaera wanders alone in the forest for a while, until she comes across a striking light-pelted wolf. This she-wolf reveals her name to be Lilith, and Megaera is smitten almost as soon as she first catches sight of her. She's in awe of the other, of how Lilith seems so at ease on her own. Though, it seems every wolf needs a companion, and the two decide to start helping each other. After all, it's easier to hunt when there is more than a single wolf.

The duo works well together, so when the two of them come across a couple of other wolves, Megaera is inwardly apprehensive. She knowsthat they have a better chance at surviving with more…but she'd gotten used to it being just the two of them. But, her rational side wins out, and Echidna and Fenrir are welcomed into the territory, gaining Lilith and Megaera some help with scouting and hunting.

Eventually as the pack grows, Lilith comes to Megaera, asking for advice on how to ensure their future. Megaera suggests to delegate tasks, which Lilith agrees to. Thus, Megaera becomes a huntress, adept at stalking the prey while the more physically powerful Fenrir chases it down. She volunteers Lilith as leader, and the others agree, though Lilith announces she'll take the role only if Megaera is her second-in-command, her trusted companion. Of course, the darker she-wolf agrees. She will walk to the ends of the earth if Lilith so wishes.

Pack life continues, and Lilith and Megaera become closer. Megaera begins to envision a life where she and Lilith are mothers to their own pups, especially as younger wolves begin to enter the pack. Megaera has a litter, though decides to give them a chance at a better home—even if it breaks her heart. Even if it crushes her soul to see her babies without her, jumping around and playing with the other pups under the guidance of the great Mother Bear, Lillemor. The pack is too small for such a quick influx of wolves, as she is reminded by Lilith…and she knows this. She does. That doesn't stop her from mourning what could have been, or from talking animatedly to Lilith about their future family. The Queen is supportive, though quietly so, as she is in most things.

After this, knowing she longs for a larger family, Megaera spends her time training the younger wolves, especially Eidothea, who is turning out to be quite good at stalking. Megaera watches these younger wolves grow into fully-fledged members of the pack, and dreams of the day where she and Lilith will have pups to call their own.

Until then, Megaera will be the ever-loyal second to the Queen. She and the Sun Stalker Pack are her family now.
