Silvertail could hear screams and yelps everywhere. She shivered and crouched down as a pure black wolf walked near her.
"Why do you cower down as if I am you enemy?" He growled and looked at her. Silvertail looked up at him, "Because you destroyed my home! Because you killed my pack!" Silvertail growled back. The black wolf didn't show any emotion, but he lunged at Silvertail. She was too slow, and the black wolf knocked her back. She let out a quiet moan, and closed her eyes, she wished to be back with her family, but she knew that wouldn't happen. The black wolf sneered, "So pathetic!" He stalked away and walked back to his pack. "We have risen up! This land is our land! Our enemy is defeated!" he told his pack, and let out a loud howl. His pack joined him, and Silvertail's pack was no more.
Present Day
Silvertail let out a sad howl, and her pack followed not long after. The body of a golden wolf lay in the forest clearing. She walked towards it, her head held held high. She couldn't show weakness, her pack was on the verge of collapse. She had to show her pack that their leader was strong. That their leader could still defend her pack. She crouched down next to the body and touched it with her right paw. "Sun, may you run with the stars, fly with the wind, and chase all the prey you want. You live with the Pack of Fallen Stars. We send you on your way with all our blessings." She stopped talking, and the night was silent. "You were a wonderful wolf, and I wish you could have lived longer. You were still so young." Silvertail felt like her heart was breaking apart again. "Sun, we wish you safe hunting, safe passage to the sky. We pray that you will watch over us, guide us through battles, through sickness." She dipped her head and rested it on his back, "Goodbye, Sun." All around her, the wolves lifted their head to the moon, and howled. It sounded like a song, a song of sadness, filled with the heartbreak of the whole pack. The night was silent once more, and they surrounded Silvertail and Sun. Each wolf dipped their head in respect as Silvertail stood up. "Sun has passed. He is running free with his ancestors once more. But we must move on! We must not forget who is our enemy, who is our ally. We will not let this loss stop us! We will continue on, this loss will drive us towards our goal!" She looked at her pack, "We will not be wiped out." All around Silvertail, her pack howled, it wasn't a sad howl, more like... a empowering howl. She wouldn't let this stop her. Yes, she lost someone she was close to, but her mother would want her to move on. She thought back to when the black wolf had killed her pack. She had thought becoming an Alpha was impossible. But here she was, standing in front of her pack, wolves that would die to protect her and their pack. Silvertail smiled, whatever the world threw at her and her pack, they would find a way to defeat it, even if it meant laying down their lives.
