"Elementary gods change hands (about) every century, with a normal wolf replacing them and becoming a god. Each pack that chooses an elemental god as their deity selects a candidate. These candidates are chosen at birth and on the anniversary of their 7th day of birth (their 7th birthday) they are sent to sit on the elemental stones [more about those later] where they will either be accepted as the new god or they will be laid to rest.  These wolves will have to sit completely still for 24 hours, alone, without food or water on the stones as a test. The gods are typically merciful and will quickly and painfully kill the wolf if they are not accepted by the end of the test. "

When gods do meet, it is brief and cordial, despite feelings they may have.]
