He grew up in a pack where spirits and flesh-and-blood wolves hunted deer side by side and slept back to back. He grew up in the cold, spacious reaches of the tundra, with colorful grass blooming almost all year round. The leader, a stern and mysterious wolf who communicates with spirits, gave his mother shelter in this pack.
But a lot has changed since he and his siblings were carefree puppies.

Rømling died. Blomstrende respected his leader and took his loss no less hard than the other members of the pack, but then neither he nor anyone else expected what awaited them next.
Tømme, Rømling's beloved, lost her mind, leaving the flock without support - Rømling never left a blood heir. He hoped that his beloved, strong and sensible wolf, would be strong enough to lead the pack. He was sure of this, because he was not only her lover - he was her mentor. He hoped that Tømme would, at the right time, choose a worthy candidate for the role of leader of the pack.

But she couldn't.
Grief fell upon her, trampled and destroyed her. Grief clouded her mind.
And then the blood magic, the power that she had skillfully mastered, fell on her - and on everyone around her. The rivers turned red and the air smelled of blood. Everything around was saturated with blood, bitterness of loss and sorrow.
Every day she moved further and further away from the pack, wandered for a long time somewhere far away and did not notice anything around her. The flock was left without support and without hope. There was no one to take the place of leader.

Then the children of Titan-øye took the place of the leader. Him, his brother and his sister. Children of a renowned huntress whose wisdom was revered by the pack.
They were still too young and certainly not prepared to become full-fledged leaders, but at least they managed to raise the spirit of the pack.
With gentle words, Blomstrende inspired the wolves young and old, his stern brother raised the morale of the hunters, and his sister went to help treat and look after the pups.

All they could do was stick together, listen to the spirits of nature around them and hope that Tømme would return to them.
