The First Day

^{At first, the world did nothing but spin.}

^{Any attempt the pale wolf made to open his eyes was met with blinding lights. How long had he been lying there?}

^{The pups of his blood, his heart, that sought to see him dead.}

^{Ailbe, the second son. Borne to the scout Sadbh. He envied the gifts of his elder siblings - Bran and Méabh. It was Ailbe who convinced his other siblings to enact the violence that would ensue.}

^{Oissíne and Carthach, the third and fourth sons, were easy to convince. Oissíne was particularly eager, for his astute cruelty was rivaled by few. The third daughter, Damnat, was much of the same mind, and it was she and Oissíne who became the minds behind Ailbe's cold heart.}

^{Morrígan, the second daughter and littermate to Ailbe, Oissíne, Carthach, and Damnat, was the only one of the siblings to balk at the plan. But she kept it secret, fearing what her bloodthirsty siblings might do to her newborn pups should she interfere.}

^{But by keeping her silence, she allowed her littermates to poison their younger siblings.}

^{And so, the children of Myrddin and Sinnan were pulled into the scheme. Rathnat, the fourth daughter; Fachtna, the fifth son, and Gwrtheyrn, the sixth son. So too were the children of Myrddin and Abhaile. Nechtan, the seventh son; Feidlimid, the fifth daughter; Gráinne, the sixth daughter; and Olwen the seventh daughter.}
