Graphite was born in a large pack and the daughter of the leader. The pack believed power ran through their leader's blood and it was passed on to their pups. Graphite was raised to be the pack's leader and discouraged from things like learning to hunt. She became best friends with another pup in the pack, Pebble, who was the pup of pack members Graphite's parents didn't like too well. Pebble dreamed of being the pack's leader and Graphite backed them up, believing they'd be good at it, or at least better than her. They tried to keep it secret though with them teaching each other what they learned in training. When the pack leader died due to something unrelated and it was time for Graphite to take control, her first order was to put Pebble in power instead. Graphite was the former leader's last remaining blood relative and decided to leave the pack to find a life where she wasn't unjustly thought of as better. She wandered unfamiliar places until she met Babbag. The two spoke and Babbag told Graphite how the pack's current hunting party was full and all other roles were filled but there were untrained pups, one the hunting lead didn't approve of and the other Bark was too busy to teach. Graphite volunteered to train the young pups and join their hunting party once they were old enough and trained well.
